Fox News contributor Gillian Turner writes in The Hill the President’s twelve day, five country Asia trip is a “vehicle for President Trump to deliver a stark message about U.S. military capability and preparedness,” to “arguably an audience of one” in Pyongyang, North Korea. Turner comments the President’s visit to Pearl Harbor “underscored this reality quite clearly,” as did his visit to the U.S. Pacific Command: “an inherently powerful symbol of American military prowess” appropriate for communicating “a message that needed to penetrate a regime 5,000 miles away.”

Dave Boyer of The Washington Times reports on the U.S. and Japan alliance that “will not stand” for the continued development of North Korea’s nuclear and missile programs, and that Japanese Prime Minister Abe supports President Trump’s forceful approach to North Korea, stating “all options are on the table.”

CNN's Kate Bennett reports on First Lady Melania Trump’s dignitary activities in Japan, specifically her visit to the Kyobashi Tsukiji Elementary School with first lady Akie Abe where she participated in a group photo, was “drowned in hugs,” and tried her hand at Japanese calligraphy.

Regarding immigration, the Washington Post's Maria Sacchetti writes that the Department of Justice aims to cut the number of backlogged immigration cases in half by 2020 by “adding judges, upgrading technology and refusing to tolerate repeated delays in deportation cases.”
